Hogwarts is a school attended by young wizards to develop their magical abilities. The building, located in the hills of Scotland, is seen as an old ruined building with a sign reading "beware, dangerous ruins", by people outside of magical powers (more commonly known as muggles). It has seven floors, several towers, stairs that change position at will and extensive grounds that contain a lake, a forest, called The Forbidden Forest, and several greenhouses for botanical purposes. In addition to its many classrooms where classes on potions, transformations, Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic and other subjects are taught by qualified assistants, the castle has places for different purposes. For more than a thousand years, the students were distributed upon their arrival, in the different houses, by means of the verdict of the Sorting Hat, with the surnames of the four founders of the school: Gryffindor, where the brave of heart go; Hufflepuff, where hard-working, honest students, lovers of animals and nature attend; Ravenclaw, where the smart and wise belong; and Slytherin, where they are bold and ambitious. During Harry's schooling, Albus Dumbledore is the Headmaster and the main Heads of House are Professors McGonagall, Sprout, Flitwick and Snape (later replaced by Slughorn.
Harry James Potter is the protagonist of the Harry Potter book series by J. K. Rowling. On his eleventh birthday he learns that he is a wizard and the plot of the books focuses mainly on the years in which the orphaned Potter attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to practice under the guidance of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore and other teachers. There, Harry also discovers that he is already famous throughout the wizarding world and that his fate is tied to that of Lord Voldemort, the dark wizard feared worldwide and murderer of his mother and father.
He is a character characterized by being faithful, honest, prudent, funny, jealous, sarcastic, somewhat curmudgeonly... but above all a loyal friend. He loves chess, Quidditch, jokes, and being with Harry and Hermione. He hates spiders, some Slytherins (for example Draco Malfoy), second-hand clothes that he has to wear and that Hermione corrects him. He is good at magic chess and strategy, imitating voices and accents, and flying on a broomstick. He is overprotective of his sister Ginny. He sins of jealousy and is very insecure due to the merits accumulated by his brothers and the poverty of his family. Ron is very optimistic and somewhat carefree, although he sometimes has a hard time coping with the fact that his family doesn't have a lot of money. This makes many of his things worn and old, since he inherits them from his older brothers, and is despised by some Hogwarts students for it, especially Draco Malfoy and the Slytherins.
Hermione is the smartest girl in her class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Like Harry and Ron, she belongs to Gryffindor house, despite the fact that the Sorting Hat considered placing her in Ravenclaw due to her prominent intellectual abilities. He is of muggle origin: his parents are both dentists and have no connection to the wizarding world. He loves to read, however, he can't draw. He doesn't like to break the rules except in an emergency and isn't particularly keen on Quidditch, the wizarding sport, although he does support his friends during the tournament. She tends to believe that anything worth knowing can be learned from a book and is skeptical of anything that cannot be proven with science, thus despising the divination course taught by Professor Sybill Trelawney. Hermione met Harry Potter and Ron Weasley on the Hogwarts Express.
